What This App Actually Does

Video Downloader & Video Saver is built around one job: grab videos and images from social media links and store them on your Android device. You paste a link into the app’s built-in browser, it detects the video, and you tap download. There’s a file manager tab to play, rename, share, or delete what you’ve saved, plus a password-protected private folder for anything you’d rather keep hidden. It does not support YouTube downloads due to Play Store policy, so it’s really aimed at other social platforms.

Where It Genuinely Performs Well

The core download function works, and users confirm it. One reviewer specifically praised the app for downloading adult content in 720p and automatically saving the title of each video, which removes the guesswork of hunting for a specific clip later. Another user said it does a better job than competing apps at skipping past intro ads on source pages and finding the actual main video file. Multiple reviewers also note it supports multi-threaded downloads, letting you queue up several files at once and continue browsing while they finish in the background.

The Ad Problem That Overshadows Everything

This is where the app falls apart for a lot of users. The most common and heavily upvoted complaints describe ads appearing on nearly every single tap: an ad to open the app, an ad after clicking a post, an ad while just browsing, and full-screen video ads with no visible way to skip or exit early. One user called it ‘the worst app I have ever used’ specifically because of this, saying you can’t even exit the app until an ad finishes playing. Several reviewers who initially liked the app say it got progressively worse over updates, to the point where they uninstalled it entirely.

File Handling Quirks Worth Knowing

Downloaded videos don’t show up in your phone’s normal Downloads or Gallery folders — you have to open them through the app’s own file manager, which is an extra step some users found frustrating, especially when they were already annoyed by ad interruptions to get there. A few reviewers also mentioned occasional playback issues, like a clipped or laggy video, or audio drifting out of sync by a couple seconds, though these seem to be inconsistent rather than the norm.

Who Should Actually Install This

If you mainly want to archive a handful of social videos occasionally and you’re willing to tolerate frequent interruptions, the download quality and resolution options genuinely deliver on what’s promised. But if you’re downloading frequently, the ad load described by reviewers — full-screen ads between nearly every screen transition — will likely make the experience feel like more trouble than it’s worth. There’s no mentioned premium ad-free tier, so go in expecting the free version’s ad frequency to be a permanent part of the deal. Casual, occasional users may be fine; frequent downloaders should brace themselves or look elsewhere.

Pros

  • Fast, multi-threaded video downloads
  • Auto-saves video titles for easy searching
  • Good at skipping intro ads on sources
  • Supports multiple resolutions and formats
  • Private password-protected folder included

Cons

  • Extremely frequent full-screen ads
  • Files hidden from normal phone folders
  • Occasional playback lag or audio sync issues

What Real Users Say

Erik Dutter 5/5

“Question: is there a premium version to remove ads? Love this app. Super fast downloads and actually downloads my adult videos in 720p PLUS it automatically saves the title of the video for you too so no guess work later when trying to find a specific video. I really, really wish y'all had a Windows 10/11 (64bit) version or atleast…”

“Edit: uninstalled, an ad to open app, sometimes ad to click on post, an ad after post, then an ad while browsing. They are not the 5 second ads either. You can find better with the hassle. Edit, the newest update add MORE apps. Don't care if you're a startup, the ads are ridiculous. You don't need to have an…”

“Ads are VERY intrusive. Seriously folks this is too much. The app works reasonably well. But the ads are a deal breaker. Full screen and no way to get back to the app unless I sit there for minutes at a time watching dumb video game ads. Every time you navigate from one screen to the other in the app.…”

Frequently Asked Questions

1

What is Video Downloader & Video Saver?

It's an Android app that lets you download videos and images from social media links using a built-in browser and download manager. It includes a file manager, private folder, and built-in video player for organizing and viewing saved content. It does not support downloading from YouTube due to Play Store restrictions.

2

Is Video Downloader & Video Saver free?

Yes, the app is free to download and use, but it's supported by ads. Multiple reviewers report that ads appear extremely frequently, sometimes on nearly every tap or screen change. There's no indication of a paid ad-free version currently available.

3

Does it work with Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok?

Yes, the app is designed to detect and download videos from social media platforms like these through its built-in browser. It explicitly states it is not officially affiliated with Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, or TikTok. Users just paste the video link into the app to trigger a download.

4

Why can't I find my downloaded videos in my phone's gallery?

Downloaded files are stored within the app's own 'Files' tab rather than your phone's default Downloads or Gallery folder. You need to open the app itself to play, rename, share, or move these files. This has been a point of confusion and frustration for some users expecting standard file placement.

5

Are the ads really as bad as reviewers say?

Based on multiple highly-upvoted reviews, yes — users consistently report full-screen ads appearing when opening the app, after clicking a post, and while navigating between screens. Some describe being unable to exit the app until an ad finishes. This is the single most repeated complaint across reviews.
