What Moj Actually Offers

Moj is ShareChat’s entertainment app built around two things: quick short videos/reels in the TikTok mold, and bite-sized short drama series told in 2-5 minute episodes. It’s aimed squarely at Indian audiences, with content in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and other regional languages. On top of the free reels and free drama episodes, there’s a Moj+ premium tier that unlocks ad-free originals and full binge access. It’s essentially trying to be a swipeable video feed and a mini streaming service in one app.

Who it’s for is pretty clear from the reviews: people who want quick regional-language entertainment during small pockets of downtime, and people who enjoy serialized short dramas with cliffhanger endings rather than committing to full-length shows.

The Short Drama Format Is the Real Draw

The standout strength, based on user feedback, is the short drama content itself. One reviewer said they were ‘absolutely hooked’ on the series, noting the 30-60 second episodes pack real emotion and suspense and fit neatly into a busy day, with cliffhangers that keep pulling them back. Another user praised the free tier specifically, saying they watched a wide range of stories without paying anything, with very short ads, and called it the best story app they’d tried after checking competitors.

Recent Performance Improvements

Multiple users note the app used to be buggy, with slow taps and freezing during sync happening almost every time it opened. According to a more recent review, a newer update fixed much of this: downloads are now faster and the app feels noticeably more stable than before. That said, this seems to be a recent improvement rather than a long-standing strength, so mileage may vary depending on when you download.

The Moj+ Subscription Trap Is a Serious Problem

This is where the app runs into real trouble. A striking number of the most-upvoted reviews describe the same pattern: signing up for a ₹1 or 2 rupee one-day free trial, then getting hit with an automatic ₹699 Autopay charge shortly after, sometimes without clear warning that the trial had ended. Several users say they contacted support immediately, in one case within hours and having consumed zero content, only to receive automated bot replies instead of a real resolution, with refunds refused on the grounds of terms and conditions. This isn’t a one-off complaint; it shows up repeatedly and is clearly the app’s biggest weakness.

Beyond billing, there’s also a complaint about the MFC (creator program) application process stalling at ‘submitted’ for over three months with no real response from support beyond automated emails, suggesting broader customer service issues.

Who Should Actually Download This

If you just want free reels and free drama episodes with short ads, Moj can genuinely deliver an entertaining, well-liked experience, and recent stability updates make the core app more pleasant to use. But steer clear of the Moj+ free trial unless you’re prepared to actively cancel it well before it ends and watch your bank statement closely, since the subscription billing complaints are frequent, specific, and largely unresolved by support.

Pros

  • Engaging short drama series with cliffhangers
  • Free tier has extensive story content
  • Short, non-intrusive ads on free content
  • Recent update improved speed and stability
  • Multiple Indian regional languages supported

Cons

  • Moj+ trial auto-charges without clear warning
  • Customer support relies on automated replies
  • Creator program (MFC) applications can stall

What Real Users Say

Ayush Kumar 5/5

“"I am absolutely hooked on the short drama series on Moj! The episodes are only 30-60 seconds long but they pack so much emotion and suspense into every clip. It’s like watching a full TV show but in a way that fits perfectly into my busy day. The cliffhangers are crazy, and I love that I can find stories in…”

“They firstly offered free trial of ₹1 and at the same time setup Autopay of ₹699. Then after some hours, ₹699 gets deducted from my account. Not informed anything, when free trial ends, nothing. And when e-mailed customer support they said refund is not in terms and conditions. They are frauds and cheaters.”

Samarth Kushwah 5/5

“love this app! The new update is fire. It used to be extremely buggy – you'd tap an entry and wait several seconds, which made the app a pain to use.Plus, it would completely freeze while syncing, and that happened almost every time I opened it. But now downloads are faster and much more stable. Great job on the fix!”

Frequently Asked Questions

1

What is Moj: Short Videos & Reels?

Moj is an Indian entertainment app from ShareChat that combines short-form videos and reels with short drama series told in 2-5 minute episodes. It supports content in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and other regional languages. Users can watch trending videos, follow drama series, and create their own short clips with filters and effects. It also offers a premium tier called Moj+ for ad-free original dramas.

2

Is Moj free to use?

Yes, Moj offers free short videos and free drama episodes, and one reviewer noted they watched a wide range of stories without paying, with only short ads. However, the app also pushes a Moj+ premium subscription, often through a low-cost one-day trial that several users say auto-converts into a ₹699 charge if not cancelled in time. So while the core app is free, the premium upsell requires caution.

3

Are the short dramas on Moj worth watching?

Based on user feedback, yes, the short drama format is the app's strongest feature. Reviewers describe episodes as emotionally packed and suspenseful despite being only 30-60 seconds long, with cliffhangers that keep them coming back. This format seems to be the main reason people stick with the app.

4

Is the Moj+ free trial safe to sign up for?

User reviews suggest caution here. Multiple reviewers report signing up for a ₹1 or ₹2 trial and having Autopay set up simultaneously, resulting in a ₹699 charge shortly after, sometimes with no clear notification that the trial had ended. Several say they requested refunds immediately and were denied based on terms and conditions, so it's important to cancel manually before the trial period ends if you try it.

5

Has Moj's performance and stability improved recently?

According to at least one recent review, yes. Users previously reported the app freezing during syncing and being slow to respond to taps almost every time it opened. A newer update reportedly made downloads faster and the app more stable overall, though this seems to be a fairly recent fix rather than a long-established strength.
