What WeMuslim Actually Offers

WeMuslim bundles the core toolkit that observant Muslims need into one app: location-based Athan and prayer time alerts, a Qibla compass, a full Quran with audio recitations and translations in nearly 10 languages, a Hijri calendar with prayer tracking, Azkar and Dua collections, a digital Tasbih counter, a Hajj and Umrah guide, and a social feed called Ummah where users can post reflections and ask an imam questions. It’s aimed squarely at Muslims who want a single daily-use app rather than juggling separate prayer time, Quran, and Qibla apps, and with over 125 million installs it’s clearly become a default choice for a lot of people.

Where It Genuinely Delivers

The core prayer features are what users praise most, and for good reason. Reviewers consistently call the Athan reminders accurate and the Qibla finder reliable, and several mention a widget that keeps prayer times visible at all times, something they say other apps lack. One long-time user specifically likes that sunrise time is scheduled a few minutes ahead to help people stay ahead of the cutoff. The Hadith and Azkar sections also get real praise for being calming and easy to read, and the overall interface is described as clean and simple rather than cluttered.

The Quran Reading Experience

The Quran module supports multiple reciters and translations, which is a strong selling point on paper, but the reading experience isn’t flawless. At least one detailed review points out that Arabic text and translation text share the same font size setting, so making the Arabic script bigger to read comfortably also blows up the translation text and makes it visually distracting. It’s a small complaint in isolation, but for daily reading it’s the kind of friction that adds up.

Ads, Subscriptions, and Trust Issues

This is the app’s biggest problem right now. Multiple recent reviews describe a sharp increase in ads after an update, with some users reporting unskippable ads for gambling, dating apps, and even adult content appearing inside what is meant to be a spiritual, prayer-focused app. For a Muslim lifestyle app, ads promoting gambling are a particularly bad look since gambling is explicitly haram, and users call this out directly as a dealbreaker. On top of that, there are complaints about a subscription price that one user in India says jumped to 900 per month, alongside existing in-app purchases, which feels steep layered on top of an already ad-supported experience. Notification volume is also flagged as excessive with no clear way to dial it back.

Who Should Actually Download This

If you want a genuinely capable all-in-one Islamic app with reliable prayer times, a solid Quran reader, Qibla, Tasbih, and Hijri calendar, WeMuslim still delivers the substance, and the strong install base and long list of five-star reviews reflect that. But go in aware that the ad experience has reportedly degraded significantly, with some ad categories that are flatly inappropriate for the app’s audience, and that subscription pricing has drawn real frustration. It’s worth trying for the core features, but keep an eye on whether the ad situation has improved before committing to a paid tier.

Frequently Asked Questions

1

What is WeMuslim: Athan, Qibla&Quran?

WeMuslim is a Muslim lifestyle app that combines prayer time and Athan alerts, a Qibla compass, a Quran reader with audio recitations and translations, a Hijri calendar, Azkar and Dua content, a Tasbih counter, and a Hajj and Umrah guide. It also includes a community feature called Ummah where users can post thoughts and ask questions to an imam. It's designed as an all-in-one companion for daily Islamic practice.

2

Is WeMuslim free to use?

WeMuslim can be downloaded and used for free, but it includes in-app purchases and a subscription tier alongside ad support. Some users report the subscription price being quite high in their region, and ad volume has reportedly increased significantly in recent updates. So while the core features are accessible for free, the experience around them isn't ad-free.

3

Are the prayer time and Athan alerts in WeMuslim accurate?

Yes, based on user feedback the prayer time and Athan alerts are considered accurate and reliable, using your current location to calculate timings. One reviewer specifically noted the sunrise time is scheduled a few minutes early to help users stay ahead of the cutoff. This is consistently cited as one of the app's strongest features.

4

Does WeMuslim show inappropriate ads?

Multiple recent user reviews report a significant increase in ads after an update, including unskippable ads for gambling and dating apps, which some users found inappropriate for a Muslim prayer app. Gambling-related ads in particular have drawn criticism since gambling is considered haram in Islam. This appears to be a real and recurring complaint rather than an isolated incident.

5

Can I read the Quran in different languages on WeMuslim?

Yes, WeMuslim supports Quran translations in nearly 10 languages along with audio recitations from various well-known reciters. The app also includes a Khatam Quran tracking feature to help you follow your reading progress. One limitation noted by a user is that Arabic and translation text share the same font size control, making it hard to enlarge one without affecting the other.
