What This App Is Supposed To Do

ICC Official is the International Cricket Council’s companion app for following international cricket: live scores, match commentary, video highlights, news, and standings for tournaments run by the ICC. The recent redesign adds a ‘Video Hub’ with live matches in selected territories, match highlights, interviews, and behind-the-scenes footage, alongside a cleaner interface and promises of faster performance. It’s aimed at cricket fans who want a single hub for scores and video content, and at ticket holders for ICC events, since tournament tickets are increasingly tied to an ICC account inside the app.

Live Commentary And Recaps Are The Real Draw

When it works, users genuinely like the content. One reviewer specifically called out enjoying the live commentary and the ‘7 minute recaps,’ which suggests the highlight-and-catch-up format lands well for people who can’t watch full matches. That same reviewer also had practical suggestions, like swiping between groups in tournament tables and seeing a list of remaining group games, which points to a decent content base that’s let down by navigation gaps rather than a lack of substance.

Login Problems Are The App’s Biggest Failure

By far the most common and highest-upvoted complaints are about signing in. Multiple users report being stuck on ‘We are having trouble signing you in. Please try again later,’ with one saying they could log in fine on the website but not on Android. Another user set up an account specifically to access Women’s T20 tickets, only to be blocked from logging in with their Google account, and after emailing support three times, still couldn’t retrieve the tickets. When an app is the mandatory gateway to event tickets, login failures like this stop being minor annoyances and become trip-ruining problems.

Crashes And Install Issues On Android

Beyond login, several Android users report the app simply won’t run: the icon opens a blue ICC loading screen for a few seconds and then closes, or a blank page appears before the app shuts down entirely. One person found a differently-named app after following support instructions, only to be told it wasn’t compatible with their phone. This suggests real fragmentation issues across Android devices, not an isolated bug, and it’s happening to people trying to use core features like live match viewing.

Video Streaming Reliability Is Inconsistent

The Video Hub is a headline feature of the redesign, but at least one reviewer says they still haven’t managed to watch a live match through the app, describing the experience bluntly as bad despite the marketed promise of live international cricket. Combined with the login and crash reports, it looks like the video and account systems underpinning the app’s newest features aren’t yet reliable for a meaningful chunk of users.

Who Should Actually Download This

If you mainly want text commentary, scores, news, and short match recaps, and your device runs it without crashing, there’s a genuinely useful app here. But if you’re relying on it to redeem event tickets or stream live matches, the evidence points to a real risk of lockouts, crashes, and unresponsive support. Cricket fans should try it, but keep a backup plan — especially ticket holders who need guaranteed access on match day.

Pros

  • Live commentary praised by users
  • Useful short match recaps
  • Central hub for ICC tournament news
  • Video Hub offers highlights and interviews
  • Redesigned, cleaner interface

Cons

  • Frequent login failures on Android
  • App crashes or won't open
  • Live match streaming often unreliable

“Seems a bit buggy so far, but I'm enjoying the live commentary and the 7minute recaps. Suggestions for improvement: 1. being able to swipe to switch from viewing Group A to B etc 2. showing a list of remaining games in that group on the Group tab page”

Frequently Asked Questions

1

What is ICC Official?

ICC Official is the International Cricket Council's app for following international cricket, offering live scores, commentary, match recaps, news, and a Video Hub with highlights and live matches in selected territories. It also serves as the account system tied to tickets for some ICC events. It's built for fans who want scores, video, and tournament updates in one place.

2

Is ICC Official free to use?

Yes, the app itself is free to download and use for browsing scores, news, and highlights. However, some content and event ticket access may require creating an ICC account, and users have reported that login issues can block access to features tied to that account, including tickets purchased for matches.

3

Why can't I log into the ICC Official app?

Multiple users report a 'We are having trouble signing you in' error that persists for days, even though the same account works fine on the ICC website. This appears to be a widespread Android-specific issue, including problems logging in with linked Google accounts. If you hit this, try the website as a workaround and contact support, though some users report slow or no response.

4

Does the ICC Official app work reliably on Android?

Not for everyone. Several reviewers describe the app crashing immediately after showing a loading screen, or opening a blank page before closing. Some users were also told an app version wasn't compatible with their specific phone. This suggests real device compatibility problems rather than an isolated glitch.

5

Can I watch live cricket matches in the app?

The app advertises live international cricket through its Video Hub feature in selected territories, but real-world reports are mixed. At least one user said they still hadn't been able to watch a live match through the app despite this being a headline feature, so reliability may vary by device and region.
